Endomondo’s Social Fitness Comes to the Pebble appstore

We’re excited to welcome Endomondo to the Pebble appstore, available today for iOS users, with Android integration later this year. The new Pebble app lets you start, pause, or stop workouts right from your wrist while letting you select from configurable stats like distance, heart rate, and duration. The Endomondo app also vibrates your Pebble for each mile or kilometer completed, and briefly displays a performance summary for the workout in progress.

Hacking with Pebble

Spark + Pebble = Building the Internet of Things at Maker Faire Bay Area (Updated)

UPDATE: If you’re in the Bay Area and want to demo a cool Pebble hardware hack you’ve built, tell us about your project! Your Maker Faire ticket will be paid by Team Pebble if we select your hack.

Pebble was born from hacking. Back in 2008, Eric plugged a Nokia phone display and Bluetooth radio into an Arduino board and our first prototype came to life. Hacking is part of Pebble’s DNA, and is reflected today in the awesome apps made by Pebble developers using our SDK — from flying an AR Drone to controlling a Tesla. That’s why you’ll find Pebble at Maker Faire Bay Area on May 17 and 18 at the San Mateo Event Center.

Pebble and Spark

Come hack with Pebble + Spark at Maker Faire Bay Area, 17–18 May!

But we’re not doing it alone. We’re sharing a booth with the wonderful folks at Spark, makers of the Spark Core — a tiny, Arduino-compatible WiFi development board. The Spark team created an easy-to-use product that allows anyone to connect everyday electronics to the internet over WiFi. We have a lot in common, from our Kickstarter beginnings and passion for hacking to our open platforms and strong developer communities.

It’s time to explore the Pebble appstore

Last month at CES 2014 we announced the Pebble appstore — the very first open platform for sharing apps optimized for wearables. We know you’ve all been patiently waiting for the appstore to launch and today’s the day.

We’re extremely proud to announce that the Pebble appstore is now live with over 1000 apps and watchfaces. The appstore is built into the Pebble app on your iOS or Android device, and lets you find, browse and download Pebble apps and watchfaces directly from your smartphone.

Pebble’s mission is to make products that mesh easily with your life. Until now, Pebble users discovered apps and watchfaces through several awesome third party resources like MyPebbleFaces. The Pebble appstore changes all this by providing a simple one-stop-shop for you to discover, manage, and install apps and watchfaces.

The appstore features separate areas for apps and watchfaces, with six app categories: Daily, Tools & Utilities, Notifications, Remotes, Fitness, and Games. This makes it easier than ever to find your next favorite app — whether you’re tracking your workout, managing your music, or controlling your thermostat.

But the Pebble appstore is more than just a centralized location for apps and watchfaces. We’re actively curating the appstore to bring you the best apps and watchfaces every day. In addition, the locker stores your favorite apps and watchfaces and provides a quick and easy way to load and unload them from your Pebble.

The new Pebble app for iOS which includes the Pebble appstore is now available for download in the iTunes Store. We’re still fine tuning the Pebble app for Android, so stay tuned — it’s coming very, very soon.

Update: A beta of the Pebble app for Android which includes the Pebble appstore is now available for developers.

CES 2014: Welcoming Pebble Steel, Pebble appstore, and new partners to the Family

Two thousand and thirteen was an incredible year for Pebble. We shipped to our Kickstarter backers; landed at Best Buy, AT&T, and Amazon; enabled iOS 7 notifications; launched SDK 2.0; and more—all thanks to amazing support from Pebblers and developers like you.

Our running start to 2013 happened right here at CES when we showed Pebble publicly for the very first time. Today, with over 300,000 Pebbles on wrists all over the world, we’re back in Las Vegas with really great news to share.

Saddle up Pebble devs: the Pebble appstore is coming soon

Today, we are proud to announce exciting news to our developer community: the Pebble Developer Portal is now open! Pebble app developers can now upload their Pebble apps for distribution in the upcoming Pebble appstore. When it launches in early 2014, the Pebble appstore will be a first-of-its-kind wearable tech application directory—giving Pebble users a one-stop-shop for searching, browsing, and installing Pebble watch faces and apps directly from the iOS or Android Pebble smartphone app.

The introduction of SDK 2.0 included four major new APIs—Javascript, Accelerometer, Data Logging, and Persistent Storage—and the response has been phenomenal. We know developers have excitedly anticipated submitting their SDK 2.0 Pebble apps to the Pebble app store.

The time is now.
